Football

Caden's First TV appearance.

Football started today! 8/8/11
Football has officially started.  Today at 8:45AM Adam is having his first practice.  I'm really excited for this season.  I know Adam is really looking forward to only dealing with football for the time being.  He's been wrapped up in all the politics and daily drama and has had enough.  I think more than half the team is filled with new players, so he's really stacked his team well to his liking.  This year is the year!! GO MUSTANGS!

What a difference a year makes!

Recruiting-2/12/2010
Adam had a big recruiting weekend.  There were about 25 recruits here and the visit went really well.  I am always impressed with how professional and how mature Adam is.  Most the students were from California, who Adam recruited.  He had a lot of guys commit that weekend and more followed later in the weeks.  He did a great job and his team will look so different next year.  I'm really excited for the program that he is building.

I started this page to reach out to the other football wives and family.  Recently I joined a network for wives married to college coaches so that site has been really awesome to be a part of.  Here I plan to blog about
Adam's football team, balancing football seasons (basically being alone) and also how I try to be a more supportive wife and cheerleader.

Mines 2009

There is 1 game left in the season and I can't believe how fast it's gone.  We are 4-6 right now, which is 2 more games than what they won last year!  So they have improved 100%!  I really like the entire staff and I feel like the whole program is turning around really quickly.  I hate to brag-but Adam is awesome!  After this last game I'm really looking forward to spending the entire day w/Adam with no football interruptions.

The end of the season and the beginning of recruiting 11-18-10
Football season has finally ended.  The team finished 4-7.  Which was a big improvement from 2-8 last year.  Adam has really done some awesome things for this team.  I'm excited for next season and to see what they can do.
Now that the season is over I finally have my husband back.  Adam now gets home around 6ish, which is so nice-we don't have to eat dinner at 9pm any more! YAY!  It's nice having him home but the flip side is that he is in the office the entire time recruiting.  I still like him home though, it's nice to sneak in there and just have him around.  By the end of the recruiting season, I'm sure I'll be able to recite the whole spiel on why everyone should come to Western.

Winter Break??? 11-29-10
Not really.  You would think that after football is over the coaches have a little time to breathe.  Not Adam, he took 1 day off when his parents were here and that was it.  After that he was on the phones again.  He has started recruiting and we took our first trip to San Diego (where he recruited some players out there).  He was working the same days that I worked (Mon-Wed) and then took Thanksgiving off, which was nice...although I did hear him chatting to some other coaches on the phone for a little while.  I have a big decision coming up that I'm still wavering on.  Adam will be going back to California to recruit out there for 3 weeks.  I can either go with him or stay at home.  There are advantages of both.  It's very hard being away from your own home for a whole month though, especially when you are 6 months pregnant.  We will see how it goes.  It's a tough decision.

Recruiting Carries On -12-30-10
I am in one form or another recruiting everyday for hours on top of hours. We have a lot of evaluation to do as a staff and need to find the right type of guys for our program. It gets old at times, but you have to keep at it. I tried to take some time off for Christmas Eve and Christmas, but I still got some film review in on those days. During my time in Iowa, I had to work around my own errands, trying to get our house sold, seeing friends, and helping Mimi and her Mom with anything they needed. I got a lot of work done, but as always not enough. We are trying to replace seniors, players who left the program, and guys who failed out. There is a lot of work to be done with this program, but we will get it done.

Football Convention 1/7/2011
Today Adam left for the annual football convention.  It was really hard seeing him leave.  He will only be gone for a few days but it's so lonely.  I miss him so much.  I feel like a little absence in my heart when he leaves.  I love him so much.  He will have a great time there and it will be good for networking and seeing old friends.  Adam said goodbye to Caden this AM and it was really cute.  I can't imagine how it will be when he is actually here with us.  Adam works so much and so hard for our family.  I appreciate him so much.  He is the best husband/dad I could have hoped for.
