First Ultrasound

Today we saw the baby for the first time!

When we went to the doctor I was told to come with a 1/2 bladder.  As I sat down in the chair with Adam holding my hand I was very nervous.  Since my only real symptoms of pregnancy were huge boobs and cry baby I kept second guessing myself if I were even pregnant.  I laid there in anticipation as she put the little wand on my belly.  Nothing was there.  I got nervous and asked her if I was supposed to see something and she said well why don't you empty your bladder and come back.  In the bathroom I was sweating.  I was starting to think I either had a miscarriage or was faking the whole thing.  When I came back she took a different approach...up the vag.  The ultrasound technician explained to me that I had an tilted uterus, which 1 out of every 2 people had.  I really could have cared less though as my eyes were scanning the screen to make sure something was there.  Finally, after what seemed like hours, we finally saw our little baby.

It was so exciting and amazing.  He/She looked like a little gummy bear and was so adorable.  The little bear was moving around like crazy and fist pumping and dancing all over the place.  Adam teared up a little and was excited to see something finally in there!  It was definitely a nice reassurance to make sure the baby was still in there.  They took lots of measurements and we got to watch it dance a little more before it was over.  The doctor provided my official due date which is 4/7/2011.

1st Trimester

So, some fun things that are happening during my first trimester are crying and getting heartburn.  My morning sickness isn't that bad, usually if I eat something it goes away after that.  But, my heartburn is getting worse and I cry over everything.  I never cry!  The other day I was watching Father of the Bride and Big Daddy and I sobbed during the whole movie.  Usually I would just say sarcastic comments the whole time and laugh, but not this time, total water works.

I think my lowest point in my pregnancy was the morning I went to McDonalds to buy a breakfast sandwich and hash browns which I was craving.  It was exactly 10:28am and after I placed my order the lady said that they were no longer serving breakfast.  I just looked at her and started crying OUT LOUD.  She looked at me like I was the biggest idiot in the world and she said, "um let me check on something."  She came back minutes later and served me breakfast.  I didn't say a word to her except thank you.  I'm sure she thought I was homeless and mentally challenged in some way.  But, I enjoyed my breakfast and didn't cry the rest of the day.

First Doctors Visit

Today was my first doctors appointment.  It was pretty simple.  I went in, peed in a cup and then they told me I was pregnant.  They calculated my due date to be around 4/3/2011 and they scheduled my first ultrasound for 9/30.  I was very excited and happy that I had an official doctor's confirmation to assure I was pregnant.
