Pizza and Beer!

not our pizza-found this on google-lol
Adam and I have gotten in a pretty good routine and have had Caden to bed each night around 7-8pm.  He has been so good, he just falls right to sleep.  He will usually wake up at 11, 3 and then again at 7am.  It's working really well for us and we've been so blessed to have such a good baby.

So, while the baby sleeps Adam and I had a pizza and beer night!  Blitz stayed home with Caden and we went out to get food.  Not really...we just made a frozen pizza and had some beer.  Nothing that exciting, but it spruced up my life!  It was kind of like a little date but at home :)

Tummy time

Tummy time is always interesting. Caden is getting stronger and stronger. What's more adorable is that blitz is always next to him supervising his moves.

Small Revelations

As each day goes by there are little moments where I come to new and deeper understanding regarding being a parent. Simple little things like how fun it is to see Caden make a new face or to learn his little patterns of movement. Also, seeing him starting to outgrow his new born clothes already, which lets me know how quickly the time will go. Something today that really made me think about this was when I read a book "I Will Love You Forever" to Caden while Mimi and I got him ready for bed. This book is funny and also kind of creepy with the Mom always creeping into her son's room to watch him sleep and rock him in his sleep. But in the end of the book the son holds his mother and rocks her to sleep when she is old and sick. The son then goes home and holds his child and rocks him to sleep. It just made me think of how my parents have been there for me my entire life and how the love and want to help your child never changes. It also made me think of the fact that my own parents will not always be there for me and I should always appreciate them while they are here. I know these types of moments will happen through out Caden's life, which is just another great part of having the opportunity to be a father.  - Adam

Diaper fun

My mom thought Caden needed something over his changing table to look at for some entertainment and she was right!  The mobiles we found I didn't like and we already have one over his crib so we decided to make one. My mom found some Easter eggs at the store and we put holes in them and hung them from his shelf. He loves them and he has even started smiling at them.   Success!!! Thanks mom!

Big Boy!

Today we went for Caden's 1 month check up.  He has gained 2lbs since his last visit and now weighs 8.11 and has grown an inch too!  He certainly looks healthy the doctor said and he is doing well!  I can't believe it's been a month.  I can't imagine life before him.  I love our guy.

Hangin out

Caden loves his new jungle gym.  He loves staring at his self in the mirror and likes looking around at all the different toys.  He's starting to want to explore more and will stare at things and look around when you talk to him.  I love just hanging out with him.  It's such a cool experience to not only have a child, but to be there when they are discovering and learning so much about the world.  It's awesome!

First Haircut!

Caden was born with a full set of hair and it is thick, dark brown and long!  Not so much in the front, but in the back a ton.  His hair was growing over his ears and he could put the back end in a little pony tail.  He definitely needed a hair cut.  Grandma gave him his very first one-since we all know she loves playing hair dresser.  He was soo good!  He just kind of sat there while my mom trimmed him up.  He only fussed when we needed to change positions.

He looked very dapper and my mom did a great job at trimming him up.  He looked like a little asain business man after his cut.

Mom's first green chilli

My Mom LOVES going to restaurants-clean ones only and usually nicer ones, but she wanted to go to an authentic mexican restaurant and have some authentic mexican food on her trip.  Well she did!  We went to this place that Adam and I had been wanting to try for a while called, La Familia.  It was great.  My Mom had her very first green chilli dish-on the side of course-but she eventually ended up putting it all over.  It wasn't the nicest  restaurant and I certainly couldn't see her ever dining there again by herself, but it was great food and lots of fun!

LOTS OF FIRSTS!!

This last week brought a ton of firsts!  The first time Caden got to see his Grandma was the best one.  My mom came to help out and I really appreciated it.  She even had hair grown back after her brain surgery and it was her natural color (a color i haven't seen for prob. 10 years :))  The minute she saw Caden she couldn't stop holding him and singing to him.  Our home was filled with high pitch voices and lots of songs all week.  It's so quiet here now that she is gone and not in a good way.  I really miss her a lot.  Her and Caden spent a lot of time together and she taught me some great parenting tricks and how to burp Caden the best way.

One of the biggest firsts that happened this week was on Friday; Caden started sleeping in his own crib in his own room.   Since coming home from the hospital, Caden has slept in his pack and play or in bed with us.  It's just comforting knowing he is right there and I can see he is still breathing-it's also easier for us to get him when he wakes up.  But, we thought that we'd give it a shot.  He was PERFECT.  He slept so well and only woke up to eat.  He went to be around 10pm and woke up at about 2am and then again at 5am.  That is pretty much his schedule these days for night sleeping.  Adam and I are trying to inch the bedtime up more and more and it seems to be working and he doesn't mind one bit.

The next first was Caden's first birthday!  We celebrated twice :).  The first time we celebrated it on baby Thursday (which was his 4 week mark).  My mom bought us dilly bars from DQ.  I'm trying to cut down on sweets a little, so Adam was happy to eat mine.  We then celebrated on Sunday his actual one month birthday with cake and ice cream-that of course I did not pass up.  Caden quietly enjoyed the party, but celebrated with milk only.

Caden also transitioned into his first big boy diaper---well not so big boy, but big for us.  He was previously wearing diapers for 6lb babies, but his chubby little legs and belly won't allow it any longer.  He's now in diapers for sizes 8-14lbs babies-WOOOHOOOO!  The diapers are still so small, I took a picture of one by my hand so you could see about how big they were.

Another first, which is still a work in progress was Caden grabbing at something.  Now, it could have been because Adam was practically putting it in his hand, but Caden actually put his little fingers around one of the rings and hung onto it.  It was very cute.  He just is more and more alert each day.

One last first-but it needs it's own special post...stay tuned.

Due date Date

Yesterday, Adam and I went on our first real date since Caden was born.  My mom stayed home and watched him while Adam and I went to Mi Casita-the mexican restaurant that Adam's been wanting to try for a while now.  We were only gone an hour and it seemed weird not being with him, but it was a nice break to have it just be us for a little while. Thanks Grandma!

Due Date

Today is my actual due date.  I can't believe that today was to be the day Caden came into this world.  It seems like years ago that I was pregnant.  I don't even remember how I felt or how miserable I was or how swollen my feet were.  It seems like a thousand years ago that I was in labor.  I can't even remember the pain I was in or how miserable I was to be at the hospital.  I would do it all over again times 500 today.  Caden has made us so happy and he just makes me smile every time I hold him.  I never knew that I could love so much and want to look after and protect something so precious in this world.  He's just perfect.  I just love my three boys (Blitz was included of course)

This week Grandma came to visit.  She's been having a great time and just loves holding him.  She can't put him down and our house if filled with her singing little lullabys to him and just loving him.  Its great to have her help here and he's so happy to see her-and vise versa of course!

Blasted

Well, it finally happened.  Adam got peed on.  He was changing Caden's diaper this AM and all of a sudden he got sprayed.  He tried to find the pee pee tee pee, but it was too late, he just let it spray all over.  The little guy got it all over his shirt and on the changing table.  I just heard Adam say, "Well, it finally happened."  I came in there and Caden was naked and he was just staring at us.  Adam was just glad that it didn't shot up on either of their faces.

Hair by Adam-Punk Rock Baby

Sunny Saturday

Yesterday it was a beautiful 80 degrees out.  You may think 80's sounds hot, but with the altitude and no humidity and nice breeze, it was perfect out.  Adam cooked us breakfast in the morning and he took care of Caden while I showered and ran some errands.  My big trip out yesterday was a painful trip to Walmart.  I hate that place.  But, when I have to get a bunch of random stuff, it's the easiest place to go.  We don't have a Target which I hate.

In the afternoon all the coaches came over to hang out and BBQ.  It was fun having everyone over and Adam and I always enjoy entertaining.  Caden was great and he just hung out with everyone and then fell asleep around 8ish.

One of the techniques to soothe infants is a loud "SHHHHHHHHHHHing" noise.  It sounds very rude, but it works wonders.  It's just white noise and when Caden hears it, he instantly quiets down and stops crying.  Well, last night Caden had a little outburst and all the coaches instantly (all at once) just "SHHHHHH-ed" him.  It was so hilarious.  There was a room full of adult men watching the football game and just "SHHHHHHHH-ing" at Caden.  It was so cute.  I know he is going to have some awesome role models and friends in all the coaches.

Soon, my friend Raz will have her baby, then Caden will have a little sister.  I'm very excited as her due date keeps creeping up!!!
