This last week brought a ton of firsts! The first time Caden got to see his Grandma was the best one. My mom came to help out and I really appreciated it. She even had hair grown back after her brain surgery and it was her natural color (a color i haven't seen for prob. 10 years :)) The minute she saw Caden she couldn't stop holding him and singing to him. Our home was filled with high pitch voices and lots of songs all week. It's so quiet here now that she is gone and not in a good way. I really miss her a lot. Her and Caden spent a lot of time together and she taught me some great parenting tricks and how to burp Caden the best way.
One of the biggest firsts that happened this week was on Friday; Caden started sleeping in his own crib in his own room. Since coming home from the hospital, Caden has slept in his pack and play or in bed with us. It's just comforting knowing he is right there and I can see he is still breathing-it's also easier for us to get him when he wakes up. But, we thought that we'd give it a shot. He was PERFECT. He slept so well and only woke up to eat. He went to be around 10pm and woke up at about 2am and then again at 5am. That is pretty much his schedule these days for night sleeping. Adam and I are trying to inch the bedtime up more and more and it seems to be working and he doesn't mind one bit.
The next first was Caden's first birthday! We celebrated twice :). The first time we celebrated it on baby Thursday (which was his 4 week mark). My mom bought us dilly bars from DQ. I'm trying to cut down on sweets a little, so Adam was happy to eat mine. We then celebrated on Sunday his actual one month birthday with cake and ice cream-that of course I did not pass up. Caden quietly enjoyed the party, but celebrated with milk only.
Caden also transitioned into his first big boy diaper---well not so big boy, but big for us. He was previously wearing diapers for 6lb babies, but his chubby little legs and belly won't allow it any longer. He's now in diapers for sizes 8-14lbs babies-WOOOHOOOO! The diapers are still so small, I took a picture of one by my hand so you could see about how big they were.
Another first, which is still a work in progress was Caden grabbing at something. Now, it could have been because Adam was practically putting it in his hand, but Caden actually put his little fingers around one of the rings and hung onto it. It was very cute. He just is more and more alert each day.
One last first-but it needs it's own special post...stay tuned.
